John the Baptist said: I baptise you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and fire. Matthew 3 v 11

Heavenly Father, as we come together to worship You today, pour out Your Spirit so we can meet with You, honour You, be transformed by your presence and love You more and more.

Encourage those who are struggling, bind up the broken hearted, give hope to the downcast and strength to the weary.

Give vision to your people and passion for Your Name.

Baptise us with your Holy Spirit and fire - in Jesus' name, Amen.

• For our whole congregation from the youngest to the oldest to go on encountering God, be growing as disciples, united behind the vision to put Jesus first, follow Him and make Him known.

Built on the Bible - trusting His Word

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3 v 16

Lord Jesus, teach us your ways and help us by Your Spirit to stick to them!

Sorry: When we do not seek Your will for our lives nor pay attention to what you have said to us. Please forgive us.

Please: Holy Spirit please inspire us and lead us to Jesus.

Please pray for all of the different moments when we are paying attention to God's word.

• For Godly Play, story time and rhyme time at parent and toddlers.
• For Foundation School and FROGs.
• For our adult small groups.
• For Alpha.
• For everyone's daily prayer times and personal bible time.

Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12 v2

Filled with the Spirit - seeking Him more

Jesus said "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth" Acts 1 v 8

"When he, the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth" John 16 v 13

Not just on Sundays, not just in prayer times, but all through the week and when we don't even see how much we need You, fill us with Your Holy life giving Spirit. Create in us the fruit of your Spirit in love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility and self-control.

Thank You: That You don't leave us comfortless, but You give Your Spirit generously to all who ask.

Sorry: When we grieve your Spirit by cold hearts and lack of love. Please forgive us.

Please: Help us to follow Your priorities.

• For all those who are working in different kinds of jobs - for God's presence with them and wisdom in all sorts of situations. For members of our congregation and for all who work in this area.
• For those seeking work.
• For those at home, caring for children, or parents, or other loved ones, and for those on their own.

Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Galatians 5 v 25

Worshipping wholeheartedly - welcoming His presence

The Son of God loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2 v 20

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your true and proper worship. Romans 12 v 1

Dear Lord, help us in the middle of the week to recognize your presence with us and see what you are doing, so we worship you not just with songs and prayers but with our lives.

Thank You: That your love moves towards us in all sorts of ways, but most of all in the death of your Son Jesus on the cross for us. Thank you that you are worthy of all of our praise, worship and adoration.

Sorry: When we are not concerned about pleasing You.

Please: Please let our hearts be alive to You.

• For our local MPs and councillors, police, NHS, teachers, housing/benefits officials, carers, care homes, refuse collectors, shop workers ... all who serve the local community.
• For Foundation School, collective worship (assembly!), the LINK.
• For Sunday Worship and all preparing for it.

Lord help us to live out these words of the apostle Paul:

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12 v 2

Making disciples - by life and witness

After his death and resurrection, Jesus said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age." Matthew 28 v 18-20

Oh Lord, help us to be disciples who reach out to make new disciples by how we live and what we say.

Thank You: That you are always with us and you include us in your good purposes.

Sorry: When we have kept the Good News of Jesus to ourselves and when our life doesn't match your call.

Please: Please fill us with your Spirit so we can be your witnesses in our thoughts, words and deeds.

• For the PCC, for clear vision of how to move forward in making Jesus known and for all decisions about the life of the church, our buildings and finances.
• For us to grow in the gifts of the Holy Spirit so we lead supernatural lives, living with the strength he alone supplies.
• For 2 or 3 people you know to discover the love of Jesus for themselves and grow as disciples.

May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through... The one who calls is faithful and he will do it. From 1 Thessalonians 5 v 23-4

Eager to serve - hope for the poor and broken-hearted

Jesus said "The Spirit of the Lord is on me because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour." Luke 4 v 18

Lord Jesus let your Spirit rest on us too so that we can bring good news to the poor and broken hearted.

Thank You: Lord Jesus that you humbled yourself, took on the very nature of a servant and were obedient even to death on the cross, before being raised to life and glory.

Sorry: Whenever we become proud and forget your call to serve the poorest amongst us.

Please: Grow big hearts of love in us and give us practical wisdom and knowhow in making a difference in our community.

• For CAP - those serving through CAP, and those crying out for help.
• For those struggling with addictions of different kinds.
• Fun on the Green, Hope for Summer & other community events.
• For Soup Lunch, the Hall, and the team developing the Hall - its building and its opportunities.

Heavenly Father, Help us to be "joyful in hope, patient in affliction and fervent in prayer". Romans 12 v 12

Daring to be generous - giving to the glory of God

Whoever sows sparingly will reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9 v 6-8

Lord Jesus, move our hearts so we can wonder at your love, mercy and kindness and be cheerful givers!

Thank You: Lord Jesus that though you were rich you became poor for our sake (2 Corinthians 8 v 9).

Sorry: When our actions do not reflect your generosity to us.

Please: Sovereign Lord, inspire us to give ourselves first and foremost and entirely to you. Help us live in line with your promises - not in line with our fears or cynicism.

Please pray

• For generosity to be a joyful mark of our life together - in finances, time, gifts and talents, welcome and love.
• For our church finances.
• For our hall finances.
• For our treasurer and wardens in all their responsibilities.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3 v 29-30
